Research Overview

The majority of INSIGHT’s research is conducted by investigators at academic institutions and is funded by federal government agencies (e.g., National Institutes of Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality) or nonprofit research organizations (PCORI). However, INSIGHT also supports research across various industries including pharmaceutical companies, consultant firms, local city and state government agencies, and community-based organizations.

Since 2014, there have been over 265
INSIGHT data request forms submitted and approximately 168 of those requests are fully funded research studies.

INSIGHT prioritizes studies which seek to promote health equity and aligns with PCORI, the National Institutes of Health, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention national priorities to advance health equity. Our data can be used to conduct observational studies, retrospective studies, clinical trials, machine learning, and many others.

INSIGHT data addresses a wide range of chronic conditions with the most researched conditions being 1) depression, bipolar, or other depressive mood disorders, 2) diabetes, 3) breast cancer, 4) heart disease/heart failure, and 5) Alzheimer’s disease.
